Creative activities for people living with long covid

Take time out to experience the positive health impacts of engaging with the creative arts, whilst connecting with others facing the challenges of long covid.

Hear from participants of the programme in the short film below:

“The nice relaxing time made me feel refreshed again.”

Cohere Arts are pleased to be working with the East Suffolk & NE Essex NHS Trust in the provision of creative health options for patients living with long covid in Suffolk and Northeast Essex.

Launched in January 2022, our Creative Space programme offers valuable breathing space, relaxation and peer support. Artist practitioners lead a range of free activities designed to stimulate cognitive function, support respiratory symptoms and reduce anxiety.

“It’s given me new interests, and that’s helped me with my recovery.”

Workshops are led by experienced arts-health practitioners with support from multi-disciplinary teams at Suffolk & NE Essex Long Covid Assessment Service. Talk to your GP about a referral to this service.

Our next programme of activities will be starting in May 2023. To register interest, CLICK HERE.

In the meantime, you can access our Youtube Playlist: a range of activities you can tailor to suit your own energy levels and working patterns. Try a drawing, breathing or singing exercise at your own pace from the comfort of your home. Exercises are specifically designed to offer respite, relaxation and cognitive stimulation to support recovery from long covid.

Creative Space for Young People

Alongside our main programme, we have also developed a creative resource series specifically aimed at young people aged 16-24 who are living with long covid.

Presented by dancer Rosy May, the series includes bite-size videos guiding viewers through gentle movement, breathing & creative exercises. Some of the videos contain prompts and guides to inspire you to write, dance or draw.

All resources are free to access – please visit our YouTube playlist below or find us on TikTok.
