Unsung Heroes Concert

We can’t wait! Final rehearsals are now underway for our forthcoming Unsung Heroes concert. On Sat 18th Nov children from across 13 East Anglian primary schools will join together to rehearse and perform 14 new songs co-created with Suffolk composers through our Unsung Heroes project, supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.

The project enabled 5 and 6 pupils from Asset Education primary schools to take part in heritage workshops run by Suffolk Archives, to find everyday heroes from their local history. Guided by historians, they delved deep into archive documents, maps and photographs to find some of the untold stories from each school’s neighbourhood.

The children then worked with one of four composers to write a song telling the story of their school’s ‘unsung hero’, and nearly 400 year 6 pupils took part in singing workshops with our choral director Tom Appleton.

On Saturday 18th November at 5pm you can hear all 14 of the songs sung by a choir of over 50 children at the Britten Studio, Snape Maltings, Suffolk. Join us to celebrate the heritage and creativity of these talented young creatives.
